According to the new rules of Singapore, from January 2025 i.e. from next year, the minimum monthly salary of any foreign citizen who wants to work in Singapore should be 5,600 Singapore dollars i.e. 4,170 dollars. Currently this salary is limited to Singapore dollars 5,000. That means the Singapore government has directly increased it by $600. If an Indian citizen works in Singapore, he will get a salary of at least Rs 3,45,000 per month as per Indian currency.
So for foreign nationals working in the financial sector, their salaries will also increase from S$5,500 to S$6,200. According to the Singapore government, the decision to increase the salary has been taken so that people doing good work come and work here and the local people also get adequate opportunities.
It is noteworthy that companies operating in South Asia are the first choice for their headquarters in Singapore. However, there are also complaints in the country that locals face more competition for jobs due to the increasing number of foreign nationals.
As of June 2023, there were 197,300 foreign workers in Singapore under employment passes. Whereas the total number of foreigners in Singapore is 15 lakh. The interesting thing here is that the total population of Singapore is 59 lakhs.
After the Corona period, the salary for foreign citizens in Singapore has been increased three times. The previous wage increase was from S$4,500 to S$5,000 which came into effect in September last year.
