Railway Ticket Booking: If you want a confirmed train ticket, make a reservation in this way, you don't have to travel while waiting
There is always stress in train travel as confirmed tickets are not available. If you get a confirmed ticket, then the journey remains pleasant and comfortable. But it is less likely that you will get a confirmed ticket immediately when you go to the ticket counter. In compulsion, people take waiting tickets and return from the reservation counter. Hope it gets confirmed. At least RAC should be available so that the journey can be completed by sitting. But do you know that reservation has a fund of confirmed and waiting, which if understood, the scope of confirmed tickets increases a lot.
You may have noticed that when you book a ticket, waiting from that station is shown, but the confirmed seat appears in the train from a short distance away. Even after three-four stations from your station, sometimes it shows confirm. Same train and same station but confirmed from somewhere and shows waiting from somewhere, why is this happening? The answer is that everything is determined by the computer mind. It is determined by a computer algorithm from where it is confirmed, from where the ticket will go to waiting. This thing is completely computer based, so common man finds it difficult to understand based on confirm and waiting.
How many seats are vacant?
To understand this, first you have to know that if a train has 1000 seats, not all the seats are for general public. Many seats are booked under different quotas. Ladies Quota, Senior Citizen Quota, HO Quota, VIP Quota etc. After this comes the number of RAC and Tatkal, in which many seats are booked. According to an estimate, out of 1000 seats in the train, only 480 seats remain vacant for the general public. After this, every train has some quota according to its station. If a train goes from Barauni to Delhi, major stations like Hajipur, Gorakhpur, Lucknow and Kanpur will have quota. Most of the seats are booked under this quota. Here, out of 480 vacant seats for general public, about 80 seats go to the quota of stations. Accordingly, only 400 vacant seats are left.
Just 400 seats for general public
If you book 400 seats, you will get a confirmed ticket, but 401 will get a waiting ticket. A common man does not understand whether it is in 400 or more than 400. Suppose a person has booked a ticket from Barauni to New Delhi, he will get a waiting ticket from normal quota at 401 number. It is called GNWL. It means that if a person takes a ticket from the source i.e. from the starting station to the final station or destination, he will wait from the GNWL quota. Now if a person books a ticket from a station between source and destination, he will get a ticket in the pooled quota waiting list. If a passenger takes a ticket from Barauni to Lucknow or Gorakhpur to New Delhi, he will get the pool quota.
How to reserve tickets
If a person neither wants to start the journey from the starting station, nor he wants to travel to the destination or the final station. Such people go up and down between source and destination. These people will get tickets from the waiting list of remote quota. Now we have to take care of this sequence for conform ticket. First is normal weighting, second is pool quota and third is remote quota. When it comes to ticket confirmation, then the reservation is confirmed in this sequence. The first general quota ticket will be confirmed.
You can get confirmed tickets in this way
Keeping this in mind, if you want a confirmed ticket or a waiting general confirmation possibility, then book a ticket from a major station ahead or behind your minor station. Can be confirmed. If the ticket is found in normal waiting, then it will be most likely to be confirmed. Normal wait first and get confirm in most situations. It will take a little more money, but your ticket will be confirmed. You may not want to go to Delhi and only go to Kanpur. But if you take a ticket to Delhi, you will definitely get confirmed.
