How to check Pan card active or not ? Easy step


The Central Government has closed 11.5 crore PAN Cards. This strict decision has been taken because PAN Card Aadhaar Card Link PAN Card was not linked to Aadhaar. In response to an RTI query, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) said that the date for linking PAN card with Aadhaar card is June 30. Action has been taken against those who did not link both the cards within the stipulated time.

The number of PAN cards in the country has reached 70.24 crore. Of these, 57.25 crore people had linked PAN card with Aadhar card. About 12 crore people did not follow this process within the stipulated time. Cards of 11.5 crore people have been deactivated.

This RTI was filed by Chandrashekhar Gaur, an RTI activist from Madhya Pradesh. In which information was given that Aadhaar is linked while making a new PAN card. This order has been issued for those who have made PAN card before July 1, 2017. Linking PAN card and Aadhaar has been made mandatory under Section 139AA of the Income Tax Act. Under this order, those who fail to get PAN-Aadhaar linked can reactivate their cards by paying a fine of Rs 1,000.

Check Pan Card Active or not ?

Below are the steps to check whether your PAN card is valid or invalid

Step 1: Income Tax Go to https://www.incometax.gov.in.

Step 2: Find Quick Link Panel and Go to 'Verify Your PAN' and Click.

Step 3: Enter your PAN, name, date of birth and mobile number and click on the 'Continue' button.

Step 4: Next, enter the OTP sent on your mobile number and click on the 'Submit' button. Your PAN status will be displayed.

How to Link PAN Aadhaar Card / How to link PAN-Aadhaar?

Step 1: Visit the Income Tax e-filing website.

Step 2: On the homepage, click on the 'e-Pay Tax' option under the heading 'Quick Links'.

Step 3: Enter 'PAN' number, mobile number and click on 'Continue' button.

Step 4: Enter OTP and click on 'Continue' button.

Step 5: Next, click on the 'Proceed' button under the 'Income Tax' tab.

Step 6: Select Assessment Year as '2023-24', Type of Payment (Minor Head) as 'Other Receipts (500)' and click on 'Continue' button to pay the fine.

Step 7: After paying the fine, go to the homepage and click on the 'Link Aadhaar' option under the 'Quick Links' heading.

Step 8: Enter PAN and Aadhaar number and click on 'Validate'. Enter name, mobile number and click on 'Link Aadhaar' button.

Step 9: Enter OTP and click on 'Validate' button. The request for PAN-Aadhaar linking will be sent to UIDAI.

Check PAN Aadhaar Linking Status / How to check PAN-Aadhaar linking status?

Step 1: Visit the Income Tax e-filing website.

Step 2: Click on the 'Link Aadhaar Status' option under the 'Quick Links' heading on the homepage.

Step 3: Enter your PAN and Aadhaar card number and click on 'View Link Aadhaar Status' option.

Step 4: PAN-Aadhaar link status will be displayed on the screen.

When PAN-Aadhaar is not linked, PAN will become inactive. You can check PAN card status on Income Tax e-filing website. If your PAN is inactive, you have to send a request to link your PAN-Aadhaar after paying the penalty amount. However, it will take 30 days for the PAN card to be reactivated.


Consequences if PAN card is deactivated

People may have to face many problems due to closure of PAN card. According to CBDT, such people cannot claim income tax refund. Demat account will not be opened and payment for purchase of mutual fund units will not exceed Rs 50,000. You can buy and sell shares for Rs. Cannot give more than Rs 1 lakh. You will have to pay more tax on the purchase of vehicles. No account will be opened in the bank except FD and savings account. Credit and debit cards will not be issued. You can pay an insurance policy premium of Rs. 50,000 cannot be paid. There will be higher tax on purchase and sale of property.
